Description Preá and Jericoacoara beaches, in recent years, has become a true international destination. The wind of Preá is even stronger than Jeri, attracting many foreigners in the year to practice kitesurfing. Still untouched and rustic, Preá is fascinating for its natural caracter tipically "nordestino" where life is pure and simple in close contact with a strong nature. The major part of the population is living from fishing and agricultural. The tourist can watch them working on the beach with nets and boats in the same way they were doing 100 years ago. The Village is very native but provides some high standard hotels and inns that offers a variety of internacional services.
With wind over 210 days a year and a large sandy beach, with a specific kitesurf area, Preá is situated in one of the best kiting locations in the world and is very famous for the constant wind. Preá is surrounded by huge white dunes and crystal clear lakes formed by the tropical climate of the region. The beach is being extended for kilometers border with the APA (area of environmental protection) of Jericoacoara, which is today a National Park and is on the beach of Prea about 33% of its territory. The wind blowing from 25-30 knots all day, making fishing village a favorite destination for kitesurfers and windsurfers from around the world. The down winders from Preá to Jericoacoara beach is famous. Beside choppy conditions at medium and high tide, the water is almost flat with small windwaves at low tide. At high tide is the time to get on the waveboard and ripp downwind all the 12 km to Jericoacoara. Organized downwinds and transportation are available at many places.
The wind conditions are outstanding and considered as one of the best in the world. Preá offers steady and constant side onshore wind from right in the end on June until February. The months with the strongest wind are from September until November and the average wind speed is about 26 knots - every single day. With a coastline of several kilometres, Preá beach have plenty of space and there are no obstacles in the way.
