Description We are an independent water sports center in lovely Safaga on the Red Sea (Egypt). Spot For Kitesurfing you have two options: • In the Soma Bay, where we go with our Kite-Boat every day. Here you can kitesurf, away from the crowds, in the turquoise blue water • At Yara Beach, where is our Center 2. Here you can go kiting straight from the beach in front of the hotel.
SOMA BAY • The Soma Bay is one of the best kite spots in the Red Sea and offers great conditions for all skill levels. In the huge lagoon with 2 km² of shallow, knee to hip-deep water, beginners will find an ideal place for learning. In the summer, the lagoon can run completely empty at low tide. But then there is still enough space for kitesurfing in the deeper area of the bay. • For intermediate to advanced riders, whether freerider or freestyler, Soma Bay offers great conditions and mostly perfect wind. The Soma Bay with its turquoise-blue water and always pleasant temperatures is a great pleasure for every rider. Usually the wind starts in the morning side-offshore from North-West. Around noontime, it then turns to "side-shore" from North, and blows over the Soma Bay peninsula. In the afternoon normally the wind is quit constant and a bit stronger than at the surrounding coasts. Depending on the season, the wind slowly dies down in the afternoon, but can also blow until sunset.
YARA BEACH • At Yara Beach, where is our Center 2, you will also find great conditions for kiting. Yara Beach is located about halfway between Safaga and Soma Bay. If you have your accommodation in Yara Beach Club, the kite beach is not more than just 100-150m from your room. Again, the wind is blowing side-offshore in the morning and turns to side-shore around noon-time. • Both the hotel as well as our Center at Yara Beach are relatively small, but very convenient and friendly. Ideal for people who travel on low budget and don't like big hotels. From here you can also come to our daily Kite-Boat-Trip to Soma Bay.
Wind The weather in Safaga is dominated by a hot desert climate. There are two main seasons - the summer from April to October and winter from September to March. In the summer months the thermometer goes up to 35° during the day, while it cools down to 20-25° during the night. In winter, daytime temperatures are between 20-25° and can go down to 15° in the night. There is hardly any rainfall. Max. 1-2 times per year it can rain a little bit in Safaga. Strong thermal winds provide good to very good kite and windsurfing conditions virtually all year round. In the morning the wind usually starts from the north-west and therefore blows side offshore on the beaches of Safaga. Late in the morning it then turns to north and blows perfect sideshore along the coast. Until 2-3pm there is usually very consistent wind, which then - depending on the season - slowly dies down, or keeps blowing till sunset.

More Info Kitesurfing - Boat-Trip For all Kitesurfers we have a very special offer... With our Kite-Boat "Utopia Team" we run a daily trip to Soma Bay, where we have the perfect Kite-Spot for beginners to advanced riders - with excellent wind conditions and a lot of space.
Every day the Kite-Boat leaves at 9 o'clock from our Center 1 in Safaga Palace Resort (Meeting point: 8:30). The trip to Soma Bay takes about 30 minutes. Latest by 10 o'clock you can be on the water and enjoy a 2-3 hour session before lunch break.
Between 15:30 - 16:00 we make our way back and return to the center around 16:30.
From our Center 2 in Yara Beach Club you can of course also join the boat trip. On the way to Soma Bay we pick you up with the Zodiac from there, and bring you back again in the afternoon. And this is how your perfect day looks like: on our boat you spend the whole day with Kitesurfers - away from hustle and bustle of the hotel beaches. We anchor right on the edge of the Soma Bay lagoon, where you jump straight into shallow water and can get started. No matter whether you are a student and take Kite-Lessons with one of our experienced instructors, renting Kite-Equipment from us, or bring your own material, on our kite boat you are always welcome.
During breaks you can stay on the boat, socializing with other kiters, reading or just relaxing. Around 1 o'clock we serve a freshly cooked lunch buffet, which - according to our guests - usually tastes better than the hotel food... In the unusual case that there is no wind, we have snorkelling gear on the boat. So you can enjoy the amazing underwater world of the Red Sea. Like this also non kiting escorts can enjoy our boat trip. Depending on the wind, you can go for a 5 km downwinder back to the center at the end of the day. The crowning glory of a successful day...
